Dr. A. Aziz Richi, MD
Medical Director, Surgical Weight Control Program
Dr. A. Aziz Richi earned his medical degree from Damascus University, Syria. He completed an internship at Worcester City Hospital, Mass; surgical residency at Saint Mary’s Hospital, Waterbury, surgical oncology residency at Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center in New York, and a cardiothoracic surgery residency at the Medical University of South Carolina, where he was chief cardiothoracic surgery resident.
Board certified in surgery, cardiothoracic surgery and critical care surgery, Dr. Richi is a fellow of the American College of Surgeons, the American Society of Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery, the American College of Chest Physicians and the Royal College of Surgeons and Physicians of Canada. He is section chief of general surgery at Saint Mary’s Hospital.
Dr. Shady Macaron, MD
Associate Director, Surgical Weight Control Program
Dr. Shady Macaron earned his medical degree from the American University of Beirut, Lebanon. He completed an internship at AUB Medical Center in Beirut and residencies in general surgery at Waterbury Hospital and Saint Mary’s Hospital, where he was chief resident in general surgery. Dr. Macaron also completed a fellowship in laparo-endoscopic and bariatric surgery at Danbury Hospital. He is board certified in general surgery by the American Board of Surgeons (ABS), and a member of the American College of Surgeons (ACS).
He is also a member of the American Society for Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery (ASMBS), and the Society of American Gastrointestinal and Endoscopic Surgery (SAGES).
